Primitive Springerle Pressing Board
It's a gingerbread man, nobleman, that appears to have been pressed onto the copper from a springerle gingerbread mold of 19th century style. Approx. 9 5/16" tall, 4 21/32" wide (wood backing); copper is thin, I can not measure with tools at hand, less than 0.10 mm. Salesman's sample? Primitive peddler's sign? Whimsical art made by someone selling molds? I've never seen anything quite like it.
