VERY GOOD used condition. NEW EDITION. COLLECTABLE. The unconventional use of materials including carpet, aluminium insulation panels, and Styrofoam by Italian-born, New York-based artist Rudolf Stingel challenges the status quo of modern painting. For instance, Stingel displayed a vivid orange rug in the otherwise vacant room for his 1991 New York debut at Daniel Newburg Gallery. This volume, created by Stingel and featuring images from his 2007 solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, features work from the last 20 years of his career and was conceptualised, photographed, and designed under his direction. The entrance gallery, which was illuminated by a crystal chandelier and covered in panels of silver aluminium insulation, was a highlight of every exhibition. Visitors wrote various kinds of graffiti on the surface during the show, resulting in an incredible network of scrawls, scratches, and patterns. The collection also includes smaller Styrofoam sculptures and Stingel's photorealist self-portraits, among other things. The book is in very excellent condition overall and shows very little to no wear.
