Minolta cameras are notorious for "Capacitor-itus".  The XD, XG and X-*** series most common (but not only) problem is caused by a capacitor (possibly 2) that has slowly degraded over time.

To help DIYers, up for sale are 2 new 220uf 4V capacitors that will fit properly.  They're Panasonic brand and rated 1000 hrs @ 85°C.

So if you're handy with a soldering iron - you're good to go.

There's lots of info online to help you along - just do a search for Minolta Capacitor Repair and you should find what you need.
