Size 12x16 Giclee Print from Original Watercolor by Artist, Alicia J. Stonebreaker In 1976 Alicia won “Best of Show” while exhibiting this watercolor painting at the Camden, Maine Art Show. In this stunning painting she features the main road leading past the “Monhegan Bulletin Board” building. If you've been to Monhegan, you have walked by this. This rugged little storage shed has posted the advertisements, vacancies, job wanted, and lonely heart postings for many years. Alicia was masterful at painting the enveloping fog through the trees and brush. She painted a tempted sky that showed hope of the sun streaking through the fog.  The old wooden dory is captured at rest among the weeds and exposed to the elements. The moss covered roof is painted brilliantly while reflecting the shadow of the nearby tree.

About the Artist - Alicia J. Stonebreaker, (1925 - 1976) was born in Wielun, Poland, established art studios in Maine and Vermont, and was educated at The Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, and the Kassel Art Academy in Germany considered one of the most prestigious art academies in Europe. Each summer Alicia would come to Monhegan Island to paint and enjoy the company of her many friends and fellow artists.
