Up for bid is an unusual English sterling teaspoon with an
applied fox figure in mens’ clothing with swords, significance unknown. The spoon is 5 3/4 inches long and weighs 31
grams. The spoon a swaged drop and a downturned rounded handle. The handle front has an applied figure of a
fox in mens’clothing with a handful of swords; I suspect this is a figure from
literature or theater but I do not know.
It is engraved “J.F. / Winchester / 1906” on the handle back. The piece
is marked with a maker's mark of [JR] and Sheffield hallmarks for 1903-04 as
shown.
Condition on the spoon is good. There is just normal wear of age. A fun piece of English silver.
