I'm not sure what to say about this glorious carving - you will either love it or hate it.  I don't know how best to describe it.  So sticking to the facts, here we have:

A wood carving of a figure that stands 24" tall, excluding the stand.  It weighs 4.5 lbs.  It is adhered with a single screw into the base onto an oval stand.  The figure is top heavy with a huge head, some red painted areas (above eyes, nose, and clasped hands), and hardwood teeth that have a raw and rough cut look.  There are also teeth holes on the bottom lip that look to have been filled a long time ago.

The wood appears to be very aged and drying.  There is a dry crack running the length of the head along the side of the nose and through the lips.  The structure is not at risk with this crack, it is shallow and the wood is still very strong.  It won't break.

No idea of age or origin, just one of those things I couldn't resist acquiring along the way.

The photos don't really do it justice.  Its remarkable!
