Description:
Oil on cardboard. Signed Erik Larsen. The oil dates back to the early 20th century  and originates from the artists stay in Paris from 1929-1950. During his time in Paris, Larsen lived a very Bohemian life and befriended and portrayed many of the artists and singers from the local theaters and Cabarets.  Framed in its authentic frame. A fine oil by Danish painter, Erik Larsen ( 1902- 1975). A certificate of authenticity will be included with this work.



Condition:
Ready to hang. In excellent condition. The oil could use a light cleaning, due to the old age. Otherwise fine with no holes, tears or missing paint. The original salon frame has minor scratches due to the age.



Erik Larsen ( 1902- 1975)
Larsen was pupil of Karl Larsen from 1932-33 and very known for his humorous and colorful sceneries from Paris and Copenhagen. Larsen was especially fond of Paris and moved there in 1929 where he stayed until the late 1950ties. During his time in Paris, Larsen lived a very Bohemian life and befriended and portrayed many of the artists and singers from the local theaters and Cabarets. Larsen was mainly known for his series of café scenes and Jazz club views. Around the 1930ties, Larsen became closely connected to various circus performers and followed their tours making sketches of their preparations and performances. Larsen also did a long series of paintings and drawings inspired from literature, Poetry and mythology like the one thousand and one night. During his later years, Larsen traveled and worked in Italy and Spain. The works of Erik Larsen was widely exhibited all over Europe and a book about his life and works was published by The Danish Marque De Sade just before his death in 1975.
