For your consideration;

This is a gorgeous obi depicting two chapters from the famous, Heian period novel " The Tale of Genji".

The finger weaving is so stunning and detailed, right down to the clothing and brightly colored fall foliage. Tsuzure or finger weaving is the most complex and time consuming type of weaving in Japan. The process requires the weaver to grow out their fingernails and file grooves into them in order separate the weave and draw the weft tight enough to achieve the intricate pictorial quality for which this weaving is known for.

The obi is overall in great condition. However it does have some age marks on the front, but can only be seen up close.
