This Four-window Maru Yukimi is a variation from the original three-window Maru-Yukimi(please refer to our other listing) but has a tone of exquisite and more refined craftsmanship. It has a generally similar rounded look as the three-window Yukimi but is loaded with more details and modifications. The most noticeable difference is the window lattice is finer and much more elaborated, increasing from 7 holes to 17 holes. This literally required much higher crafting skills. Also, the inside of the umbrella was chiselled into radial grooves which is visible if the lantern is put at a higher position. the Platform and the Leg are both added more sculptural lines and patterns. The Lightbox of the four-window Maru Yukimi is thinner than the predecessor and thus creates a proportional contrast with the big umbrella. 

The four-window Maru-Yukimi is by far our flagship product in stone lanterns. It requires the highest skilled craftmanship and the longest time to create. 

Zu Studio's Japanese stone lanterns are hand-chiselled from blocks of natural granite, using centuries-old skills by great stone carvers. The design, structure and way of making truly stick to the Japanese tradition. As a result, each of our lanterns is born to be unique, the texture, details and crystallized patterns are one of a kind.

Please notice that this lantern is not moulded, or cast. You might be confused by similar products at a fraction of the price. Keep in mind, materials and craftsmanship cost the most. Our lanterns are hand-cut from natural blocks of granite stone, not poured from acrylic, resin, concrete, cement, hypertufa or anything else. Also, there is a type of product on the market claiming to be made from cast stone. Be careful! Cast stone or reconstructed stone is not real stone. It is a highly refined architectural precast concrete masonry unit intended to simulate natural-cut stone. 

To be authentic to the tradition, taste, feel, and appearance, our lanterns are cut out, hammer by hammer, chisel by chisel, from natural granite stone. Unlike many cheaper lanterns moulded from the same undetailed mould, every handmade lantern is unique, solid and stackable. On the contrary, those cookie-cut lanterns are identical, not layered and are light in weight. For example, a concrete lantern close to our size weighs only 1/3 of our lantern. and a resin one weighs only 1/8. 

The total weight of our lantern is heavy, but each of them is layered and could be stacked together. Due to the materials being natural stones, the crafting and handling are both more demanding.
