This book, Moore's Universal Assistant, was published in 1879 by Cincinnati Publishing.  Written/collected by R. Moore.  The book is a detailed review of business and farm operations in the 4th quarter of the 19th century.   It includes 500 engravings depicting  equipment, construction, buildings, people, animals, etc., and tables of financial facts.

Following is a partial list of topics to assist:

Bakers, Cooks, Lumber Workers, Dyers, Bleacher, Medical, Grocers, Confections, Tanners, Marble Workers,Tanners, Bookbinders, Painters, Cabinet Makers, Watchmakers, Silversmiths, Engineers, Engine Builders, Locomitives, Boring/Drilling, Blacksmiths, Mill Owners, Plumbers, Gas Companies, Gunsmiths, Oil Manufacturing, Smelting, Coal, Geology, Hunting, Special State Laws, etc., etc.

The book is in fair-to-good condition for age.  The front board is slightly warped.  There is wear at the spine, hinges and edges as shown but they remain functional.  There are newer endpapers and the inner hinges are intact.  The title page shows edge damage.  The other pages are in good condition and highly readable. One inner page has been taped at the binding.  All other pages are bound and the binding, overall, feels tight.  There are occasional pencil marks in the margins to highlight a paragraph here and there but no handwritten notes.

This book measures about 7 1/2 inches by 5 1/4 inches.  It is 2 inches thick and has 1016 pages.
