Stunning Antique Banqueting Oil lamp standing an impressive 83cm tall overall.

The lamp has a very tall brass Corinthian Column base which is beautifully defined and has a screw fit top.

The font ( Baccarat? ) is made in two pieces. A cut and moulded crystal basket with beaded ormolu mount and brass undermount and a cut crystal reservoir which sits neatly in the basket and has a brass collar.

A rare and unusual Duplex burner is screwed into the Font which has a key lift rise and fall mechanism unlike the usual lever type. This key lift has a very smooth action which appears to be braked and doesn’t rely on a lever to keep it aloft. The black glass wick winders work well and are marked with the sun faced mark for Jean Stadelmann of Nuremberg. It is also marked with DRP number 81452 - DRP No. stands for the German Patenting system “Deutsches Reichspatent” and this particular patented burner dates to 1895. The burner has a good quality antique gallery, new wick has been fitted and a “Degrelle Belgium” chimney.

A substantial frill top diamond moulded cranberry glass shade completes the lamp beautifully. I believe this shade to be antique and not a later reproduction.
