Adele Simpson was a successful American fashion designer known for her innovative use of fabrics in her designs. She won many awards during hercareer—-And created first woman’s American design houses in what was typically a man’s field! Simpson created innovative and accessible fashions that hit global runways and even graced the covers of Vogue magazine. One of the founders of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and the Fashion Group International (FGI), she is also known as “America’s First Ladies’ Designer.” Over the course of four decades she dressed Mamie Eisenhower, Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon, Betty Ford, Rosalyn Carter, and Barbara Bush. The Adele Simpson gown offered here has a wonderful design with tulip sleeves and the same cross-over design brought into the skirt—exposing a hidden fuller skirt with pleats that exposes as one walks and moves in this gown! This dress is gorgoues!!

The skirt has an attached, adjustable red crinoline underneath, red metal zipper, and is in very good vintage condition! Details include tulip sleeve (see close-up photo), flattering wide waist band, a deep scoop neckline, and a festive bow at the bodice adds sophistication, interest and charm.
