Submitted for your thoughtful consideration:  Ex-votos are a scene depicting a tragedy or someone with a grave illness or injury, saint or martyr that intervened to "save the day" and an inscription describing the tragic event and giving thanks for the divine intervention.  Typically the saint depicted is Virgin of San Juan de los Lagos.

This note is a record of the provenance of the Retablos /ex-votos that we will be selling.  Late last year (2019) a couple of really old antique dealers had to downsize from their home on the San Francisco Peninsula. They had a sale in which they sold their private collection.  These examples of Mexican Faith and Folk Art are part of that collection. We were fortunate to be able to buy the bulk of the retablos. They were all wrapped in Mexican newspaper dated in the early 70?s. Some of my collector friends looked at them, informing me that they are all vintage and not the reproductions which abound in the market place. They were probably collected in Mexico or possibly purchased at the Rosebowl in the 70?s.

All items are stored in a smoke and pet free environment and positive feedback is greatly appreciated.
