The Morgan dollar was a United States dollar coin minted from 1878 to 1904, and again in 1921. It was the first standard silver dollar minted since production of the previous design, the Seated Liberty dollar, which ceased due to the passage of the Coinage Act of 1873, which also ended the free coining of silver. In 1885, the Philadelphia Mint struck nearly 18,000,000 Silver Morgan dollars and less than a fraction of a percent have received the MS65 grade by PCGS. This coin is highly lustrous and will make a great addition to your collection. Furthermore, this coin has a Deep Mirror Proof-Like (DMPL) finish. This rarity is born from the original dies used to strike the coins being basined within a zinc receptacle with revolving water. This process effectively polished the dies which resulted in the DMPL and PL finishes in a limited amount of coins when the dies were first used to strike the pieces.
