Up for bid is an early Nuremberg Germany open salt cellar with
slipper feet. The salt is 1 3/4 inches tall
by 2 5/8 inches long by 2 inches wide and weighs 48 grams. It has a bellied form with a flared rim and
stands on four slipper feet. It has a
simple band of decoration. It has not
been monogrammed. It is marked [GA /S]
with a date letter, an [N] in an oval and an assayer’s gouge mark.
Condition on the salt is fairly good. There are some stubborn spots and minor
dents, but nothing too bad. A fine old
piece of German silver!
