Discovered in 1831, and dated to the 12^th century, the chessmen recreated here are the most extraordinary chess discovery ever made. Having appeared in countless books and films, these chessmen have earned the reputation of chief ambassadors for the Game of Kings.

This special realization of the Lewis chessmen features all different figures! Each of the figurative chessmen is modeled from a different one of the original Lewis Hoard.
4 Queens are included (sorry, the extras are not pictures – but all 4 are different!)

DETAILS

The pieces are solid and heavy, hand crafted in cast hydrostone, painted and finished by a life-long master craftsman.
The king stands approximately 3½ inches tall.
The set of chessmen alone weights approximately 3½ pounds.

BEAUTIFUL PLAYING MAT

This set comes with the ornately decorated durable playing mat, shown in the images.
The mat is made of vinyl, similar to the material used in standard tournament mats.
It measures just over 18 inches on each side, with approximately 2 inch playing squares.
