To create the magazine Autocar's team of journalists and photographers was granted exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the entire team behind the McLaren P1.

The magazine tracks the Mclaren P1 genesis from concept to reality, telling the story through the eyes of the people who created the ground-breaking hypercar.

Highlights include the previously untold story of how the concept for P1 was born, a fast track lap of the Nürburg ring with chief test driver Chris Goodwin, a stint of hot weather testing in Nevada, the truth behind the P1's shrink-wrapped design, an insight into the key technical elements behind P1 and interviews with the men and women who were instrumental in making the hypercar a reality.

Every story is complemented by stunning photography, much of it revealing details of the car in hitherto unseen detail.

We also celebrate the 50^th anniversary of Mclaren outlining the numerous landmarks and achievements of its Formula 1, racing and road car divisions and profile the man who founded the company, Bruce McLaren, with access to photos from the historic LAT motorsport photgraphic archive.
