Land Rover Discovery 3 SE (2005) 4.0 V6 SUV, 7 Seats (Petrol)

This has been a great family car - many a family holiday taken in her for camping trips with the kids.
With fuel prices today, she's just too thirsty to continue to use as a daily run-around to commute to-and-from work.

Would have kept her for longer, but she's starting to show her age and it's time for her to find a new home with someone who has the time to get her back into tip-top shape.

Don't get me wrong, we aren't talking a non-runner here - the car is still used as my daily drive (from Ipswich to Brisbane each day) - and still drives great, but for a Roadworthy, she's going to need some work done (see points listed below)

The 7-Seats has been a godsend with the kids having friends round and having to ad-hoc drives to take them all back home.  The seats then fold back down into the floor space making the back a really nice large boot space.

Good points:

- Car runs well and drives nice
- Last Service done within the last 6 months
- New Starter Motor
- New Alternator
- New Angle Cam\Cam Shaft Sensors
- Brand New Front Wheel Bearing Hubs
- Good tread still on the tyres
- Dual-Battery Setup
- Roof rack (with keys)
- OEM Towbar (with keys)
- Tekonsha Trailer Electronic Brake Controller
- Hill Descent Control (HDC)

Not so good points:

- The cable that hold the spare wheel has seized and will no longer hold the spare Tyre.  The spare Tyre will obviously be sold with the vehicle, you just can't attach it to the underneath.

- Error on dash says the coolant Level is low - it isn't.  I replaced the sensor, but same error - i was going to replace the entire coolant bottle, just never got round to it - 50-Bucks off eBay gets a new bottle with sensor.  There are no leaks - the coolant is not low

- Passenger-side Rear window does not work.  Thought it was the mechanism (it wasn't) - thought it was the motor (it wasn't).  At present, it still doesn't work, but I'll happily supply the various parts that i have (including a replacement switch), maybe you'll have better luck.

- Battery light flashes every now and again - it was on my list of things to update (after I did the starter motor and alternator) - just never got round to getting a band new battery.  The battery isn't flat, it holds its charge just fine and the car starts with no issues, but that little darn light on the dash still occasionally blinks at me like a pestering child wanting constant attention.

- The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) cable recently snapped - this was quickly replaced with an aftermarket unit, which the Discovery did not like and refused to start, the only way to start the vehicle was to disconnect the new EPB and shoehorn the old EPB unit (without the cables) next to it and reconnect the comms\power cables to the old unit.  This allows the Discovery to start and drive again, but still with no handbrake (the new EPB is still fitted, and the cables are fitted to the brakes and the button on the dash operates the brakes just fine when power is connected to the new EPB).  This might be a programming thing that someone with a clever gizmo needs to marry the new EPB module to the cars ECU so that they can talk?)

- Since attempting to replace the EPB, there are now two flashing lights in the Instrument cluster telling me that there is a fault with the EPB (which is true, the old EPB has no cable attached to the brakes as the brake cable is now connected to the new EPB - which is disconnected from the power) - the old EPB is only connected to allow the vehicle to start and drive - the second warning light tells me there is an issue with the handbrake (again, true due to the new EPB refusing to talk to the ECU).  Replacing the EPB with the correct OEM part will resolve this issue (lesson learned, not buying cheap Chinese units again)

- Sagging Roof Liner (as is the way with most British cars in Australia)

- Faded Paint on Bonnet (as is the way with most British cars in Australia)

- Intermittent Reverse Sensors.  Depends on its mood, most times it works just fine, then, once in a while, it just beeps at you even when there is nothing nearby.  I turn it off, i turn it on, it's then happy again.

- Car has the expected amount of wear & tear for a car of this age on exterior and interior the seats are worn in areas, dashboard cracked due to the sun (has one of those covers on it now, so I don't see the cracks anymore, some buttons missing on the radio (radio works fine) and other cosmetic damage.

As the car is on Private Plates - and because of the issues listed - the car is sold with no RWC, however, whilst she is still registered (and in daily use) - you are more than welcome to come and take a test-drive any evening after 6pm (Redbank area)
