This variety is Epimedium x youngianum 'Roseum'. The common name is 'Bishop's Mitre' or 'Barrenwort'. It is a clump-forming perennial with heart-shaped, green leaves, copper-red and brown when young. It has charming dusky-pink to purple flowers with red tinted spurs. It grows to about 30cm height and spreads about 1m across. It will thrive in partial shade and flowers March to April. Supplied as a section of bare root, meaning it does not come in a pot or container but wrapped up in a bag for protection. You get one with this order. To plant, simply dig a hole, place the root in it with the bud just showing above the surface, back-fill with soil, firm down and water.
