Mustang while assigned to the 357th Fighter Group during World War
II. Maj. Richard
"Pete" Peterson was an ace with the 364th Fighter
Squadron, 357th Fighter Group.
He scored the bulk of his kills (15.5 air to air) during the
last nine months of the war. Maj. Peterson flew three different
Mustangs during the war and they were all named "Hurry Home Honey".
This name was the phrase his wife used to close each of her letters to him
during the war.
