WHAT IS IT?

Brand new Seymour Duncan Antiquity Texas Hot 1950's vintage relic pickup set for Stratocaster (neck 6.46k, middle 6.58k, bridge 9.93k) with 1958-1961 era correct Stratocaster wiring.  Comes with aged creme covers, aged mounting screws/spacers, wiring diagram, Seymour Duncan 21 day exchange policy and 1 year warranty.

WHAT DOES IT SOUND LIKE?

"For years now I've been custom-making these pickups for my friends and special artist friends. Each Texas Hot is carefully assembled and hand-wound like the traditional classics. Careful attention to details like scatter-winding ensures that the Texas Hot looks and sounds like a classic Strat should. I make them for the player wanting the closest re-creation of a vintage pickup. Period. The magnets are calibrated and the coils are wound "top going" with "north" magnetic polarity, the same as the early vintage models. Each cover is individually aged: not just injection molded with custom colored plastics. Each pickup comes complete with screws, schematics and vintage "push back" cloth braid hookup wire.

Give your Stratocaster the warm bell like chime normally reserved for priceless vintage instruments. The Antiquity Texas Hot Neck produces that familiar, spanky Stratocaster tone, but with a sweet tonal character that only a decades old vintage Stratocaster pickup can produce. Its treble attack is softened by the specially degaussed alnico 2 rod poles, and we inject just the right amount of smoke, sweat, and grime to give them that perfect grit.

The middle pickup in the set is RW/RP for the perfect hum-free cluck in the 2 and 4 positions. The Antiquity Texas Hot Custom Bridge is wound hotter than the neck & middle versions to give your Stratocaster better overall balance and increased versatility without losing the vintage vibe. The spank and sparkle is all there and the increased output provides just enough midrange to help your tone cut through where traditional Strat bridge pickups fall short. Single notes sound robust and chords are harmonically rich. The custom aged alnico 2 rod magnets create less string pull, and that means more sustain.

This pickup set is custom aged both cosmetically and magnetically to simulate the wear and tear that a pickup goes through after decades of playing. Each comes with a specially aged cover, and the individually ground alnico 2 rod poles are specifically calibrated to deliver just the right combination of chime and sweetness. Each Antiquity Texas Hot vintage Stratocaster pickup is lacquered and potted in lamp black paraffin wax, like the originals.

1958-1961 Stratocaster Wiring

Hand-wired era accurate1958-61 style wiring harness upgrade for American or Mexican Fender Stratocasters.  This is as close as it gets to the exact wiring used in Fender Stratocasters from late 1958 to early 1961.

-This wiring set up features CTS dish back 250k vintage style potentiometers, the Luxe reproduction .1mfd white phone book wax capacitor, and U.S.A made CRL 3 way switch and vintage style pull back cloth wire.

-The Luxe .1mfd white phone book wax capacitor is identical in appearance and performance to the original components used in the 1958 to 1961 Stratocaster and Precision Bass.  These are brand new, made in the U.S.A. in the Luxe Radio workshop, to vintage specs.  Each cap is hand wound on a 1932 Sprague Specialties Co. winding machine replica using exact vitage spec foil and paper film.  They're hand soldered, hot vacuum impregnated with pure castor oil and pure beeswax and hand-wrapped.  The .1mf affects a wider sweep on the the high and mid frequencies.  When the tone is all the way up on 10 you will notice the sound is warmer with rounded off highs and more bass. When the tone is almost all the way rolled back it produces a dark, muffled fuzzy tone.  The .1uf cap was originally used in old teles to try to emulate the tone of a bass guitar.

-Wired to vintage spec with a master volume, the middle tone controls the neck pickup and the bottom tone controls the middle pickup. Like the Strats from the 50's and 60's, there is no tone for the bridge pickup.

-The CTS dish back vintage style pots have a shorter threaded bushing designed for a Stratocaster pickguard.  The backs of the pots have the 'dish back' indent like the pots used in the 50's and 60's.

-This has the CRL 3 way switch like the Strats in the 50's and 60's.  Fender switched to the 5 way switch in the mid 70's.  If you prefer a 5 way switch feel free to send me a message.
