Did you know that the design of the medal of the Immaculate Conception was given to St. Catherine Labourè by the Blessed Virgin Mary herself? And that the Blessed Mother told her that all its wearers would receive special graces, especially if they wore it around their neck?

That's why this special medal is called a "miraculous" medal because, since it was first made in 1832, the blessings that Mary promised began to shower down on its wearers.

 If you wear a Miraculous Medal it is believed that Mary will grant you graces of love, protection, healing, strength, courage, peace, comfort and many other graces that are directly requested of her.

Saint Catherine Laboure had visions of Mary and it was Mary herself who gave detailed descriptions of what Her Miraculous Medal should look like. The medal was realized in 1830 and features Mary on the front with a multitude of graces coming out from her fingers. The front of the medal states: "O Mary Conceived Without Sin Pray For Us Who Have Recourse To Thee."

On the back of the medal is a large M which stands for Mary and a cross which represents the sacrifices of Jesus. There are two hearts representing the immaculate heart of Mary and the sacred heart of Jesus. Twelve stars represent the twelve apostles.
