This is a very detailed and extremely decorative engraving which shows a large panoramic view of the city of Würzburg with it's major buildings, churches, fortifications and the castle on the other bank of the Main river. The view is further enriched by a compass rose and a key that lists 34 important buildings. This genuine copper engraving was published by Matthäus Merian in 1642. It was printed from two plates, measures 24 x 64 cm (plate size) and is in good condition. It derives from: "Topographia Germaniae". first edition.
