In 1892, Auer von Welsbach invented incandescent lighting. By capping the flame of gas with a sort of light lattice hood, the Austrian scientist has succeeded in increasing, in enormous proportions, his enlightening power and giving it a brightness comparable to that of electricity. These nozzles have combustion conditions such that the light power is increased with less gas consumption.

On this poster, the Bec Deselle is sold as the best and very low energy consumer. By staging a child lighting the lamp, we also understand that security is in order.
