Some specs and features:

The UDP-89 from HHB is a professional-quality universal DVD/CD player that provides the ultimate versatility for video and audio playback. The player provides both NTSC and PAL support, and is compatible with a variety of DVD and CD formats, as well as MPEG4 and AVI files.

The UDP-89 features HD upconversion to 720p and 1080i resolutions and features an HDMI output to transmit high-quality video and sound over a single cable. Internal 14-bit 165MHz D/A video converters provide a crisp, clear picture. Dedicated video outputs include BNC component outputs, RCA and BNC composite outputs, a 2.5mm RGB switching output, and an S-Video output.

The player has a built-in multichannel preamp, allowing you to connect the player directly to a 5.1 speaker system without needing an addition receiver. A full 24-bit/192kHz Wolfson D/A audio converter gives a stellar audio performance. Both Dolby and DTS decoding are supported. Dedicated audio outputs include analog XLR and RCA stereo main outs, RCA speaker outputs, and a DB25 stereo/5.1 output. Digital outputs include XLR AES/EBU outputs as well as both optical and coaxial S/PDIF outputs.

Other great features of the UDP-89 include the ability to be controlled via a wired RS-232 connector or via IR wireless remote. THIS UNIT DOES NOT COME WITH THE WIRELESS REMOTE! Combined with the rugged build quality and the slim 1RU rackmount design, this is a powerful and versatile player ideal for any professional application.

Designed for use in professional AV applications, this rack-mounting DVD/CD player provides a very comprehensive set of audio and video connectivity options, disc location features and remote control capability. It will replay video and audio material from most types of media, including DVD-V, DVD+/-R, CD, CD+/-R/RW. Compatibility is offered with various encoding formats, including Video CD, SACD, MPEG4 .avi files and images in HD JPEG format. It will decode multi-channel audio from Dolby Digital and DTS discs and supports HD video formats up to 1080i.

The UDP-89 replays both PAL and NTSC DVD-Vs, with video outputs in either standard. The HDMI and component video outputs support 480p, 576p, 720p and 1080i line standards; an automatic mode allows compatible display devices to select the appropriate standard without further user intervention. A programmable repeat-function and the absence of any on-screen transport status information make the unit suitable for permanent professional AV installations such as art galleries. Most UDP-89 front panel functions may be controlled with the supplied infra-red handset. There are numerous unit setup functions which require the handset for full control. Other functions include level-trim per channel and multi-channel volume control, permitting the UDP-89 to be connected directly to active loudspeaker systems. Per-channel level trim is also available from the handset. D to A converters are 24-bit, 192 kHz.

The 1U high front panel has a large, latching, illuminated AC power switch, a two-row 11-character vacuum-fluorescent display, the front-loading disc drawer with eject button and a 6.35mm stereo jack socket, with associated level control, for headphones. Transport controls are play/pause, stop, fast forward, fast reverse, previous and next track. Menu navigation is via four cursor keys and a multi-function 'MARK/ENTER' key. The latter is also used in conjunction with the 'CUE' button to store and locate rapidly to bookmark points within the program. An 'A-PAUSE' button enables accurate cueing to cue points and track/chapter starts, with the transport pausing automatically. There are also separate 'MENU' and 'TOP MENU' buttons for viewing the title menu of a DVD for chapter selection and top menu of a multi-title DVD for title selection, respectively. A 'SETUP' button accesses the unit’s own menu system where a wide range of user preferences and hardware options can be selected.

On the rear panel, the main analogue stereo outputs have XLR connectors, and are balanced. They are duplicated on a 25-pin D-sub connector. The analogue multi-channel outputs are available both balanced at +4dBu, through the same 25-pin D-sub connector and unbalanced at -10dBV through RCA(phono) connectors, for 5.1 channels L, R, C, L and R surround and LFE. Digital audio is available in both AES/EBU, S/PDIF co-axial and optical through XLR, RCA(phono) and TOSLink connectors respectively. The S/PDIF outputs can be configured via the setup menu to carry raw Dolby Digital or DTS bit-streams for external decoding. Video outputs are component, RGB/YPbPr selectable, on BNC connectors, S-Video using a 4-pin mini-DIN socket, standard 1V composite appearing on both BNC and RCA/phono types and HDMI with a 19-pin Type A HDMI connector. Basic remote control functions are available on a parallel remote control input, 9-pin female D-sub, and full RS232 serial control via a 9-pin male D-sub. AC power input is via a fused IEC connector.
