Description
Here we a Dutch Delft blue and white plate hand-painted showing a flowering tree in a fenced garden. Grasses, insects and several large flowers are shown behind the fence. This design is contained within a circle formed by a chain of small crossed X's. The plate has a traditional scalloped edge with floral decoration along the border. Made circa 1770. The central decoration is known as the "Thee boom" or Tea Tree pattern. This pattern was popular in Holland in the last quarter of the 18th century. The back of the plate has an "IP" mark with a dot above it, designating Jan Pennis, 1724-1764, De Porceleyne Schotel and three blue encircling lines.
