This program allowed for the United States Mint to issue quarter dollars which carry a reverse emblematic of national parks or other national sites for each of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, and the United States Territories. The coins are issued at a rate of five new coins a year, one approximately every ten weeks. The coins are released in the order that the parks/sites were established as a National Park/Site."
