'A Child's Garden of Verses' by Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) was originally published in 1885 and has been reprinted many times, often in illustrated versions, and is considered to be one of the most influential children's works of the 19th century. Stevenson is best known for Treasure Island, Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Kidnapped, and A Child's Garden of Verses.

Fern Bisel Peat illustrated several books for Samuel Lowe and Saalfield Publishing Company. From 1935 into the 1950s, FBP served as the art director for Children’s Playmate magazine, and produced dozens (possibly all) of the publication's colorful covers. During these years, her work ended up in all manner of ephemera: paper doll collections, story illustrations, cut-out toys, etc., making her very well known.

Love the book. This is a copy of a book my mother received as a child and she loved it. Her original copy is in poor condition. I am thrilled to get such a good… copy of this book.”
