I am, reluctantly, offering this antique 14k signed cameo depicting Demeter (or Ceres), the goddess of agriculture and vegetation. Circa 1850-1880. The craftsmanship is excellent as is the very detailed carving of the goddess wearing a strand of pearls and wheat stalks in her hair. Carved on a natural curved shell cameo and signed. The cameo’s ornate frame is amazing and tests for 14k yellow gold and has natural seed pearls; pearls are strung on fine gold wire to the frame - very secure, no loose or missing pearls. The clasp is firm in excellent working order as is the bale which can folded down and concealed when not in use as a pendant. There are natural striations visible to the shell, one more so and it has been professionally stabilized. The signature or artist mark is on the inside edge of the setting - difficult to see, but in photos. There is an “o” in a circle on the clasp. Please see our photos who had are part of our description; the photos are of the actual item which is in our possession. We wrap well and this will be boxed and shipped via USPS Priority Mail within the USA lower 48 states only. We maintain a non smoking and pet free household. Insurance for full price is included in the shipping charge.
