This trade card advertises "Tait's Wire Check Rower, the simplest and easiest to operate that is made." I never heard of a wire check rower but on the internet I found a description, "Check-rowing was a method of planting where each hill of two, three or four seeds was exactly the same distance from adjoining hills." There is an illustration of the machine on the back of the card. They were made by F.B. Tait, Decatur, IL. This trade card is about 5 3/4 by 3 1/4 inches. Probably from around 1900 plus or minus 10 years. There is some wear on the right edge and a small surface scuff on the back. Still a nice old souvenir of early farming equipment from Decatur. Please see the scans for condition.
