Desoldering and removing parts from printed circuit boards -- electrolytic capacitors, for example can be tricky. It's also easy to damage frail, old circuit boards when doing this.

I have tried, perhaps, a dozen different desoldering tools including ones with electric pumps, snap pumps, copper braid etc. Even though I have four different desoldering tools on my bench, this is the one I always reach for. At 40 Watts it's hot enough but not too hot. It's easy to keep clean, and is reliable. Plus it leaves one hand free for prying up parts or holding the board.

Best of all, I'll include full-color instructions with step-by-step guidance for first-timers and tips and techniques for pros.
