Samurai John Barry: is a sepia historical adventure story created by Juan H. Arcos in 1983. It recounts the adventures of a young Englishman who arrived in Japan on a pirate ship around the middle of the 16th century, who later he became a samurai. The comic reached a wide diffusion in the countries where it was published weekly, in some for 19 years: Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, USA, Dominican Republic, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala.

  The comic strip "SAMURAI" narrates the adventures in Japan of the 16th century of the young man of English origin, John Barry, who arrived on a pirate ship to the coasts of Japan, with a handful of companions, in order to carry out an incursion , but they were arrested and killed by the fierce samurai, John Barry being the only survivor; who was initially viewed with curiosity and fear, even being exhibited for a while; but later he had the opportunity to adapt to Japanese culture, later facing the process of being accepted and adjusting to a foreign land and culture; where he eventually knows the love of lady Zumara with whom he established a relationship that lasted until the end of the plot. Given his ambitious and impetuous character, he learns to fight like Japanese warriors and aspires to become a samurai, which he achieves in a short time thanks to a stroke of luck, and at the same time living a series of adventures in the succession of power in feudal Japan. , along with his friend and love rival, the Samurai Buntaro; with whom he maintains a permanent and ambiguous relationship of friendship and hatred, where one saves the life of the other on several occasions and who are united by rivalry against their fiercest enemies, such as: The great resplendent, the Executioner, Dama Mitsu, Tokigawa, Kiyama, and others, which runs until the end of the series.
