This is one of my favorite cameras of all time, and I've collected for 35 years.
It has a built-in motor to transport the roll film to the next exposure.
The motor works great, and the film take-up spindle rotates, but I have never loaded film in it to test.
You get about 3 advances before having to crank the motor up again. I try not to over wind it.
For me its just a terrific novelty and something to show people
Ilex lens is nice and shutter works well
Bellows are in nice shape
Outside leather is complete and nice
Has the original cable release as well and it rests in the built-in holder
Hard to find camera in this nice of condition and working.
- I have another one but the motor is sluggish.
Introduced in 1924
Fascinating display camera!
"Manufactured by Ansco circa 1924. Named automatic for its spring-wound film advance feature. After winding, pushing down on a lever would advance the roll film to the next frame. It was not coupled to the shutter release and the user had to manually press the button or obtain double exposures. The camera was capable of capturing 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch exposures on no. 116 roll film."
