This lovely oil-on-canvas-on-panel is by French landscape painter Jules Dupre (1811-1889). Dupre was a prominent member of the Barbizon school of landscape painters.  An admirer of British landscape artist John Constable, Dupre produced works featuring both the naturalistic colors of the Realists and the free and airy brushwork of the Impressionists. His works are collected in, among others, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Musee d'Orsay in Paris, and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
