poster for the Brandt brand washing machine.
The
appliance brand was founded in 1924 by Edgar Brandt. Originally,
the establishment specialized in the manufacture of light weapons.
A

washing machine is about to go to exchange vows.
Hervé
Morvan trained at the Duperré School of Applied Arts in Paris
where he learned to master mural art, fresco and stained glass. He
turned to advertising illustration. His first poster was printed
in 1942. He designed more than 150 film posters and produced
images for Gévéor wine, Gitane cigarettes, Kelton watches ... He
is the author of the stylized versions of the Senegalese soldier
(“tirailleur Sénégalais”) Banania poster made in the 1950s.
Like
other poster artists of this period (Villemot and Savignac),
Morvan was inspired by the work of Cassandre, Loupot and Carlu.
