Shot from the air using the latest camera technology, witness the landmarks that chart the route of the world's greatest bike race.

"How beautiful France is, viewed from the air! France with its countryside and its cities. France with its magnificent monuments and its hidden treasures, its churches, and its old villages." Christian Prudhomme. Director of Le Tour de France.

The combination of Le Tour de France and the stunning French countryside is a real love story, and this incredible film presents the Tour as seen from the air. Archive pictures going back to the very first Tour de France reveal the most exciting and dramatic events which have taken place over the years in the race itself, all set against a magnificent backdrop.

Revisit the beautiful scenery France is famous for as the programme begins in the north-east and winds its way south to the majesty of the Alps - scene of so many unforgettable moments - past the countries chateaux, churches and vineyards.

The second part of this dramatic journey begins with a look at one of the cycling's most famous mountains: 'The Giant of Provence', Month Ventoux. The camera then continues to capture the peloton from above as it moves serenely past the most beautiful villages of southern France and along the Mediterranean coast towards the Pyrenes, before turning north towards Brittany.

Finally, the peloton moves down to Paris and the iconic Champs Elysees, which marks the end of the Tour and provides a fitting finale for our 3,500km odyssey around France.
