A fabulous antique Victorian 9k gold, black and white enamel 'In Memory Of' floral engraved memento mori mourning locket.

This beautiful Victorian solid 9k yellow gold mourning locket has a lovely black and white enamel face showing a curving scroll inside a pretty floral wreath reading 'In Memory of', the enamel with a lovely engraved gold floral frame and the reverse with further beautifully detailed floral engravings all over with a blank cartouche at its center ready to be engraved, the locket with an attached hanging loop and a large dangling bail. The locket is unmarked and tests for 9k* gold with the usual various base metals to the inside structure.

The locket measures about 46mm x 27mm including the bail. The bail will hold an approximate 4mm chain. The total weight of the locket is approximately 10.3 grams.
 

The locket is in general very good condition with all over wear including to the enamel with some deep scratches to the edges. The inside is unglazed. The hinge works well and the locket closes with a tight snap.

Please note, most of our beautiful jewelry is vintage and antique and was therefore made by jewelers in periods where the technology wasn't available to consistently produce gold content to the exact karat these pieces are marked as/intended to be. We work hard to test our items for gold content correctly, however the age of our pieces means gold content can occasionally be slightly lower to slightly higher than the stamped mark/advertised karat content.

This item will be shipped USPS Priority Mail for domestic locations and USPS First Class Mail International for worldwide locations. We ship anywhere in the world unless otherwise stated. Delivery confirmation is included in the shipping costs. Insurance is included in the shipping costs if the item(s) is breakable. We will always combine multiple items to reduce shipping costs. We make great efforts to honestly and accurately describe each item we list. We back this up with many photographs, all with a close-up zoom option for detailed inspection. Due to the majority of our items being antique/vintage and often unique it can be difficult to determine age and as such all our items are sold 'as is'. However, if we are not certain about the age of an item we will either not mention an age or say the item is being sold as a later or modern piece and then leave it up to more experienced buyers to determine the exact age. Items are not returnable if it was not of the age/value you were hoping it to be with no exceptions. If we place a date on an item we guarantee it to be of that period or earlier. If you require further pictures or more information about an item, please let us know prior to bidding or purchase. Items cannot be returned for any condition issues either shown in the pictures or mentioned in the listing. As many items we sell are one hundred years or older we will not accept returns for wear consistent with the item's age. Any item mentioned as sold 'as is' in the listing will not be eligible for any form of return or refund.
