Carrot Seed Tape 'Nantes 5' by Mr Fothergill's

Mr Fothergill's seed tape is a thin strip, of thin, biodegradable paper that has evenly spaced

seeds, embedded in the paper. Many popular vegetable seeds are very small and very hard sow evenly.

Seed tape makes sowing your favourite vegetable seeds really easy, in a straight line and evenly spaced.

The tape holds moisture around the seed, which improves germination and seedling survival rates.

Seed Tape is really simple to use. Just make a narrow trench (also known as a 'drill'), 1.5cm (1/2 an inch)

deep, directly into finely prepared, well-drained soil. For ease, secure one end of the tape with a large stone or cane,
roll out the tape into the drill and gently pull tight to straighten. Cover tape with fine soil.
Allow 30cm (1') between rows. Keep moist. Early sowings may benefit from cloche protection.
If necessary, thin by harvesting young carrots evenly from the row.
Weaker plants can be carefully removed and the small roots used in salads if desired,
allowing remainder to grow on. Keep well watered during dry spells, as this will prevent roots from splitting.

Harvesting: Harvest alternate carrots, leaving other roots to develop.
Remove soil and store in dry sand. Carrots are also ideal for deep freezing.
