Rare WGAY FM Stereo Air Check Music Reel Tape! **Not American Airlines!!**.

Up for sale is NOT American Airlines Popular Music Reel Tape Vol 62!

Instead, whoever initially bought this American Airlines Music Reel Tape, recorded over it.

They thought the higher quality Ampex Reel Tape, would make an excellent recording of WGAY FM Stereo; out of Maryland.

They only wanted the music off the FM station, so they left out any commercials and other station announcements; except for one.

I tried to ID some of the music and what year it was released. The best I can estimate is this tape was recorded in 1970, maybe 1971 latest.

It is very much a full 3 hour stereo music reel tape, only NOT as exactly heard on American Airlines Astrostereo flights!

I bought this reel tape several years ago from EBay, thinking it was AA Popular Music.

When I discovered what was recorded instead, and realizing the rarity of the recording; I was still quite happy with my purchase. The seller got a positive feedback from me. I have since uploaded this tape to the Archive site cloud.

Anyway, the quality of the stereo recording is still very good, and I’m sure you will like it too.

I won’t need this rare Reel Tape any longer.

So one of you can score a rare air check, to an otherwise very legendary popular radio station; long defunct.

If you were to Google WGAY FM out of Maryland, you can see the long history it had. Scores of people today still remember listening to WGAY back in the day.

The box is in good condition, the reel tape is also in very good condition for its age. It’s a 7 inch reel that plays 3 3/4 IPS. 3 hours of music, 4 Track.

I’m selling this tape because I am currently disabled, not working, with many medical bills due. I also have to cover EBay’s steep cut.

It doesn’t do me any good keeping tapes I may not need any longer, and I really need the money pretty bad.
