Pin-Stripe Calathea | Calathea Sanderiana.

Please note: The plant is a rooted cutting. You will be receiving a plant similar to that in picture 4. The plant will be posted Second Class Royal Mail with a bit of moist soil wrapped around the roots (it doesn’t come in a pot). The package will fit through a standard UK letter box.

Calathea ornata Sanderiana has large dark green, glossy leaves with white, fish-bone-like stripes that have pink overtones. The leaves are purple underneath.

It is one of the larger Calathea varieties and makes a fantastic statement house plant.

Light

As with most variegated plants, Calathea need plenty of diffused light. Direct sunlight will cause the leaves to fade and lose their markings. They can tolerate some degree of shade, but the more indirect light, the finer the foliage.

Watering

Calathea must be kept in damp soil at all times, but definitely do not allow the plant to sit in water or in very wet soil. Think 'little and often' as a watering policy.

Humidity

High humidity levels are a must. Mist frequently to improve humidity conditions and pop it near the shower from time-to-time to give it an extra boost.

Air Purifying

This plant filters airborne toxins.
