Credit: Robert Owens enlisted in the Marine Corps the year after his graduation from Furman University in 1938. During World War II he became a Marine Corps ACE, credit with shooting down SEVEN enemy aircraft. In 1969, he was an honorary pallbearer at President Dwight D. Eisenhower's funeral. He retired in 1972 as a Marine Corps Major General. Provenance: Collection acquired from the relative of Bob Troubetzkoy (an veteran) of San Francisco in 2015 who was an autograph collector of WW2 flying aces, AVG aces, and generals. All the WW2 hereos in his collection are deceased, therefore, the autographs are extremely rare. Condition Varies.
