... dating at a guess to around 1900 this is a classic Edwardian frame design with a fabulous wide & somewhat understated border, entirely constructed by hand it is of wonderful quality, evidently the work of a skilled wood craftsman, the grain & patina is sublime, with a tight straight Oak grain & patina with lots of intricate patterns ~

... the design is just sublime, we have a wide & upwardly bevelled border with a fabulous smooth grooved valley outer edging, so despite being a little understated this frame oozes sophistication & class because of its state-of-the-art build ~

The Edwardians & Victorians used oak frames such as this to display a photo of a family member sporting their Sunday best, this frame will also suit a good quality antique gravure print or classical litho or anything really that you may have in mind ~

... frames such as these are often referred to (mainly in the U.S.) as being 'Quarter-Sawn' OR 'Mission' due to the almost perfectly matching grain pattern in the Oak ~

... entirely constructed & mitred by hand, you can still see the maker's nails at the corners of the frame, this is a wonderful early 20th Century Oak frame with a real sense of Arts & Crafts style ~

This frame will suit a special picture OR perhaps an image of a loved one; it is certainly a frame to grace any wall ~

Finding the frames is the tricky bit, I wear a lot of tyre tread & shoe leather on my travels & I reject 99% of the frames that I see based on design OR condition, not to mention price ~ Many of the 'high-end' Interiors glossy magazines World of Interiors Architectural Digest / Elle Decoration et al, have been promoting antique frame ‘feature-walls’ for many years now has been a famous decorator trend, after all, "Without the right frame, Art is lost" ~
*A group of frames on a wall can be a great conversation starter & so we aim to bring as many quirky, top-notch antique & repro frames onto eBay at any one time to present plenty of options ~

** All of our antique frames will  have some form of age commensurate wear, most of our frames are not reproductions & so there will be slight imperfections e.g., the odd ding OR light scratch etc, after all, this is the very essence of owning an antique frame ~ Please, always refer to the detailed photos, they are an accurate reflection of the antique condition ~

*** Each frame has been carefully stripped down of its backing & cleaned using professional materials - The back of the frame is then meticulously tidied of any loose impediments, nails, splinters, dust, glass OR any other abrasions ~ Where necessary, the border is then treated with a high-quality bees-wax and buffed vigorously, giving the wood a fresh lustre and sheen leaving you the customer with what is effectively a moderately refurbished frame ~ Some frames, depending on size, may be available with old glass & a backing so please enquire about this before we ship ~

*** We can combine shipping whenever possible, we are happy to combine shipping for multiple frames, simply buy your frames & then once done, request a new shipping quote, alternatively, pay for your frames including the shipping & we will give a full refund via eBay once your frames are wrapped, weighed & measured ~
