E28 appeared to be a very successful model for tuning. The big German players on the car up-market as well as foreign players launched small batches of the tuned “Fifths”. In December 1987,all the models of E28 were taken out of production. At the factory of BMW in RSA the assembling of the car assembly sets was finished later – in 1989. During the years of its production, 709319 of “Fifth” E28 were produced, and many of them still run the roads. In addition, the top-models 528i, 535i, M5 even today can easily beat modern cars in dynamics and comfort.
