Pocket Silver Coin Tester - Slide
Introducing the pocket coin tester / slide, this handy portable silver coin tester will help you determine if the coin you are testing is real Silver or a fake.
The Pocket Coin Tester is made using strong 3mm thick neodymium magnets and has been tested with UK .925 Silver Crown coins with a weight of 28.28 g or 1oz and below. It should also work with weights above 1oz.

Silver is not magnetic, not even with the strongest magnet. However, silver is diamagnetic. If you hold the coin tester at an angle of between 30% - 45% and slide a silver coin down it, it will slowly fall. This is because the moving coin traveling down the magnet sets up an electrical field.
Silver being diamagnetic in nature, it weakly repels a magnet in the presence of an applied external magnetic field. It is due to the availability of only one lone electron within the atom, which makes it a weak paramagnet but a strong diamagnet.
Please Note: This is just one tool you have in your armour, it must be noted that Copper also has diamagnet properties although weaker than Silver, therefore you should also weight you coin to increase confidence in your coin. As an extra test you could also test the specific gravity of your coin, Silver and indeed all metals have different specific gravity values.
