E Robert Ross (Canadian, 20th C.) Cloudscape Acrylic Landscape Vintage Original

Robert Ross (Canadian)
‘Green Series #3’
acrylic on masonite
(actual) 4” high x 7” wide
(framed) 10 ¾” high x 13 ¾” wide

Summary: Original acrylic on masonite painting titled, ‘Green Series #3’, by well represented and listed contemporary artist E. Robert Ross, circa 1988.

Description: Depicted are representational and realistic cloud formations in a clear sky with green undertones executed centrally within a defined rectangle proportional to the surrounding white ‘mat’ space. The ‘mat’ is also the primed surface and part of the painting itself.

I have always enjoyed being outdoors; for hikes in local conservation areas, to wilderness adventures such as mountaineering, or canoe tripping. One is reminded that we, as humans, are a part of nature; and can learn from studying the natural world. This is the central theme of my artwork.

An early interest in the work of landscape photographers led me to a realistic style of painting, in acrylics. However, the most important part of painting landscapes, for me, is the symbolism of the elements, and the association one can imagine from the depiction of the scenes. I always hope to suggest “going beyond” the landscapes. It is the underlying spirit of nature that ties the landscape together with our human existence.”

– E. Robert Ross

Markings: titled, signed, dated and inscribed in black marker verso, “4 x 7” | GREEN SERIES #3 | ACRYLICS | E. ROBERT ROSS | 1988”

Condition: Very Good, Vintage
For Accuracy: a vintage painting it may show expected light signs of age. The original frame has a singular bump bottom center, and light scuffs to the extremities as expected – these do not detract from the presentation. The painting itself is bright, finessed and ready for display.
