Condition:
Ready to hang. In good condition with no holes, tears or missing paint. The oil could use a light cleaning, due to the age. Otherwise fine. The frame has minor scratches due to the age.
Svend Aage Tauscher (1911-1982)
Born in Horsens in 1911. Grew up in the Bredballe orphanage. Known self-taught artist and beloved tramp, known for his series of modernist cityscapes, figure scenes and surrealistic poems. He portrayed the Bohemian Copenhagen at nights and was part of the circle of artists and poets who associated “Café Skindbuksen “ during the late 1940s-1950s. He had never had a permanent residence, but changed between Copenhagen, Vejle, Horsens and Randers, where he was a permanent fixture in various taverns and cafes. Tauscher was well-known by the public but did not archive commercial fame until after his death. His works has since his death been highly sought after and recently exhibited at Galleri Ved Kirken 2011 and purchased by Randers museum of fine arts. A book about his life and art was published in 2010 ( maelkebøtten i den danske kunstnerflora)
