Villeroy & Boch Benedikt Figurine

This collectable Benedikt figurine was produced by European porcelain company Villeroy & Boch.  It is part of the Benedikt & Friends 'Automobile' series created by Swedish designer Rosemarie Benedikt.  

 Three series in total were produced, 'Wellness' and 'Family' being the other two. These whimsical cat figurines ooze charm and humour while portraying human activities. (you should see their vintage car collection... wow) 

This vibrant figurine shows Benedikt and Rosemarie sharing a hug while seated on a travelling trunk complete with blanket and champagne.  Walter the globetrotting fish that accompanies Benedikt everywhere can be seen on Rosemarie's arm while Rosemarie is holding her signature Rose.
 
The figurines were only produced between 1995-2000 and so are limited in number.   

A great collectors item.

As the years pass, these lovely porcelain items become more precious... pieces are damaged, lost or collections are broken up.  The good news for collectors is that quality pieces should not only hold their value but increase over time.

Condition:
Excellent vintage condition commensurate for age and use.  No chips, fractures, crazing, scratches or discolouration.  A couple of teeny teeny marks under the trunk... very small and not noticeable at all but mentioned for reference...  see photos.  Original box in good condition.

Villeroy & Boch began manufacturing in Luxembourg in the mid 1700's.  The company grew from humble beginnings to present day international success and has supplied fine tableware to many prestigious clients including royalty and former popes.

Rosemarie Benedikt was one of the distinguished designers in 20th century Sweden. She is mostly known for her decors at the Rörstrand company in the 1950s and 1960s.  Her collaboration with Villeroy & Boch introduced the Animal Park series in the 90's followed by the very popular Benedikt & Friends series.
