USSR Currency 25 Ruble Note Series 1961

Authentic Cold War Era Soviet twenty-five ruble note, depicting the father of the Bolshevik Party, and the October Revolution of 1917, Vladimir Lenin.

The banknotes are from the 1961 series of Soviet rubles, the Khrushchev Reform, and were in common circulation at the time of the Soviet collapse. The Khrushchev devaluation had been the most moderate adjustment (out of six,) of the Soviet ruble, and the longest lasting currency reform of the USSR. In 1991 the Pavlov Reform (see my other items) introduced a new series of notes to replace the 1961 series. In the case of the 25 rouble note, it was to be gradually phased out and did not get a new design

The denominations of the polyglot notes are printed in Russian, and the official languages of the Soviet Union: Ukrainian, Belarusian, Uzbek, Kazakh, Georgian, Azeri, Lithuanian, Moldovan, Latvian, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Armenian, Turkmen, and Estonian.

The authentic banknotes are in VG/VG+ circulated (used) condition. Conditions sound. Notes: paper solid, crisp; no rips, seps, fold cracks, and no funky aroma. May have lite edge wear, occasional staple hole, or other signs of use; may show minor surface dirt, notations, and/or folds; Details clear. Examples are pictured above.

Great for students, educators, collectors. Makes a nice gift pack for the old Cold Warrior, or history buff in your life! Serial numbers will vary, but the Quality will not!
