This bag dates from the 1940s to early 1950s, could be slightly earlier but definitely of that period and a beautiful quality vintage piece.

The piece was made by Mappin and Webb which is a quality manufacturer with their pieces being made to last a lifetime, and this bag certainly has! 

The bag is a good size measuring 12 inches x 6.75 inches and has a nice solid framework and a hand held handle.

Lovely pleat detail to the front and back and a lovely secure clasp closure.

Good clean order inside, lined with suede with two side pockets and one long side pocket, also a zip pocket for added security, so lots of organisation in this vintage bag.

Some wear to the gold tone hardware, but nothing unexpected from a bag of this age, and nothing that detracts from the usability of this beautiful vintage bag.

Sometimes when fastened the bag doesn't quite catch the clasp so needs to be pushed, but the clasp is strong and secure when in place, just maybe slightly out of alignment.

One or two slight white spots that I think would probably polish out, very small and hard to see.

One or two dents consummate with age, but a beautiful collectors piece in great order. Lovely item whether used or displayed, guaranteed to be noticed, loved and admired.
