Clothes with some adornment are more interesting to look at and more fun to wear.” Arnold Scaasi (1931-2015) Arnold Scaasi was a Canadian-born, Manhattan -based clothing designer whose exuberant creations were worn by generations of first ladies, socialites and Hollywood stars. This two-piece 1980's cocktail ensemble is a wonderful example of Scaasi's fondness for pushing embellishments to the limit yet with elements of restraint - in this case the classic simplicity of the design and the matte finish on the solid gold paillettes (flat sequins) that completely cover both pieces of this ensemble. The sculpted top has a plain round neck, short sleeves (almost elbow-length), shoulder pads, and it closes with a full-length back zipper. It is gored at the bottom to create a hemline that flares a bit on each side. The pencil skirt is silk at the top to prevent snagging and closes with a back zipper. Both pieces are lined in a lovely peach-colored silk. Most of Scaasi's designs are couture and do not have traditional labels for size, etc. Based on the measurements of the top, this ensemble is a modern US Medium size. It is closest to a size 6, but the skirt runs a little larger, so the set might work for a size 8 as well. Please refer to the measurements for the best guidance regarding actual size and compare with similar garments that fit you.*   TOP MEASUREMENTS - Shoulder width is 14.5" - Underarm chest measurement is 35" - Waist is 29.5"  - Length is 23.25" down center back.   SKIRT MEASUREMENTS - Waist is 30"  - Hips are 39.5" at about 9" below waist. - Length is 21.5" CONDITION Excellent condition with 2-3 missing paillettes under the right arm where they don't show.
